The Building Safety Act 2022 became law on 28th April 2022 and is now the foundation of a new building safety regime in the UK construction industry.

Since that time (and particularly during 2023) a significant amount of secondary legislation has been introduced. The latest phase came into force on 1st October 2023 and affects ALL new buildings. On this date:

  • Duty holder responsibilities came into force
  • The new building control system came into force through new regulations:
    • The Building Safety Regulator became the Building Control Body for new Higher-Risk Buildings
    • Gateways Two & Three came into effect
    • Registration opened for Building Control Approvers and Building Inspectors
  • Transitional arrangements for Higher-Risk Buildings and other buildings began
  • A Golden Thread of information is now required for each Higher-Risk Building
  • A Mandatory Occurrence Reporting system is now required for each Higher-Risk Building
  • New High-Rise Residential Buildings must now be registered before they are occupied
  • Amendments to the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order come into force

Because of the importance of these changes and the fact that they affect many of us in the EWI industry, INCA have organised an online Member Forum on the subject of the new Building Safety Regime and what it means to you as system designers and installers in the EWI industry.

FREE INCA Member Forum – Building Safety Regime

We are delighted to inform you that, on Wednesday 11tth October 2023 starting at 10:30, INCA will be hosting a FREE member forum on the subject of the new Building Safety Regime.

We will be joined by Suzannah Nichol MBE, Chief Executive of Build UK who will present the fundamentals and principles of the legislation along with competency and assessments. Suzannah is not going to delve into the technical aspects of the Building Safety Act but will talk more generally about the regime itself about what the recent changes mean to us in respect of the EWI industry before opening the floor up to ask any questions / make any comments / raise any concerns you may have.

For those of you yet to meet Suzannah she is highly experienced, respected and passionate in respect of the construction industry as a whole. Both she and Build UK are experts in the fundamentals of the new Building Safety Regime and hence highly qualified to speak on this subject. Prior to the forum you may find it useful and interesting to download and digest their Build UK Building Safety Regime Guide (just updated on October 2nd) and also a copy of the Building Safety Timeline that Build UK also published.

The forum itself will be hosted on MS Teams – the date again: Wednesday 11tth October 2023 starting at 10:30 and we expect it to last for around an hour but will finish by 12:00 at the latest.

As ever this is a free event for all INCA members – simply complete your details below and we’ll send you the registration link and a reminder nearer the time. If you are unable to attend but have any questions you’d like us to raise on the day please feed them in by email to info@inca-ltd.org.uk.
