INCA, The Insulated Render and Cladding Association, is THE recognised trade association for the external wall insulation (EWI) market in the UK. Our membership comprises of all the main system designers, a national network of installation contractors and key component suppliers and industry aligned associates.
When you choose an INCA member for your project you are giving yourself the peace of mind that you are dealing with an EWI expert with overarching values of quality, customer service, best practice and business excellence.
Whilst we work closely and collaboratively alongside other associations within the insulation industry – SWIGA, National Insulation Association (NIA), Insulation Assurance Association (IAA) to name but a few, what sets INCA apart is that we are solely focussed on external wall insulation within this wider insulation market. We support all industry sectors – new build, refurbishment, domestic, non-domestic, high rise, low rise, off site, MMC, self-build etc and all size of projects too … any form / size of construction / renovation which involves external wall insulation.

INCA Membership Criteria
Membership is not open to anyone – we have a robust application process whereby all applicants are required to satisfy a strict criterion – this includes:
- Industry experience of 2yrs +
- Proven trading history and adequate financial resources
- All relevant liability insurances are in place
- A strict health and safety policy is followed
- Site based workforce are all CSCS carded
- An active training policy and a commitment for employee development
- An operational quality management system certified by a UKAS accredited third party ISO 9001, PAS 2030 etc
- Compliance with current applicable employment legislation
EWI System Designers
Many projects will automatically involve a system designer at the first stage and so, in addition to the above, when you open dialogue with an INCA system designer member you know they have:
- They have a UK based Technical Department with facilities for training and onsite inspections
- Products are stocked and supplied from a UK base
- They hold appropriate levels of Professional Indemnity insurance
- Their systems hold accredited full EWI system certification (e.g., BBA , ETA etc) in their own name
- Their systems are guaranteed

EWI Installation Contractors
When it comes to our installation contractor members, along with the basic membership criteria they are also required to provide details of:
- SSIP accreditation (CHAS, Acclaim, SafeContractor etc)
- Trade references
- EWI reference projects to enable standard of workmanship to be vetted

But there’s more … not only are INCA members providing you with this assurance but they are active (on a voluntary basis) in supporting the evolution, development, best practice and quality within the external wall insulation industry as a whole. This includes:
Best Practice & Technical Guidance: Via our Technical Committee INCA develop and publish industry best practice and technical guidance documentation for use across the industry. As it is written and published by the INCA membership it’s the members who set the standards and therefore conform to best practice at all times.
Building Regulations: Again our volunteer member Technical Committee are active in supporting the regulatory bodies in the development and publication of building regulations.
Training: From training manuals, course content and national / regional training initiatives INCA members are actively supporting the development career paths and opportunities for entrants of all ages and levels of experience in the EWI industry.
Industry Development: The INCA volunteer Marketing Committee made up of our membership are actively in the promotion of best practice within the EWI industry to ensure quality is maintained.
Regional Differences: Whilst INCA represent the EWI industry throughout the UK regional variations in relation to regulations and initiatives are recognised through our geographically focussed committees which recognise any specifics in each individual country of the UK.
Funding & Government Initiatives: Our membership work with all relevant Government departments and actively support in the development of funding schemes and other initiatives whilst lobbying to support energy efficiency policy.
As such we work closely alongside a number of key stakeholders – the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero (previously BEIS) the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, Trustmark, Ofgem, British Energy Efficiency Federation, the Energy Efficiency Infrastructure Group, Solid Wall Insulation Guarantee Agency to name but a few.
