INCA EWI Case Study: Cloonfower, Castlerea

This project demonstrates how expert workmanship, combined with a high-performance external wall insulation system, can completely transform a building once considered beyond saving.

When Eco Smart External Insulation first took on the project, the rural cottage had been abandoned for years. Parts of the adjoining structure had collapsed, vegetation had overtaken the building and the property was no longer fit for habitation. Rather than demolishing it, the decision was made to carry out a full deep retrofit, preserving the existing building while bringing it up to modern energy performance standards.

The renovation included replacing the existing floors with insulated floor construction, installing triple-glazed windows and doors, and fitting a highly efficient air source heat pump. A key element of the project was the installation of the ATLAS EWI System, using 300mm EPS70 insulation to achieve an outstanding wall U-value of 0.10 W/m²K.

Delivering this level of performance required more than high-quality materials. It demanded careful planning, technical expertise and exceptional attention to detail throughout every stage of the installation.
