The Project

The block is a mixed use block with commercial premises on the ground floor and residential maisonettes above.

The building is of a traditional construction brick/block cavity wall, concrete floors / transfer deck and a concrete tile pitched roof over a timber trussed roof structure. PVCu windows and timber doors are present to residential dwellings. Windows and doors to commercial unit are mostly the timber as original at build.

Property is owned by Plymouth Community Homes. The project was part of a major decarbonisation within the city and focus to deliver lower energy consumption for occupants by delivering a highly efficient building fabric.

Plymouth Community Homes selected alsecoo Ecomin 300 system with a silicon 1.5mm topcoat due to its durability and aesthetics.

The Solution

BuildX (SW) Ltd were awarded the project as main contractor due to their experience of over 25 years within the EWI industry. They contracted the full external work packages to consist of

  • Windows & Doors
  • EWI system (supply and install)
  • New Roofing and Fascia & Soffits
  • Enabling works

Works Required

  • Cut off concrete window surrounds to avoid any thermal bridging
  • Façade repairs prior to EWI
  • Instal ecomin 300 EWI system
