INCA is the recognised trade association for the External Wall Insulation (EWI) industry, representing the major system designers, a nationwide network of specialist installers and key component suppliers throughout the UK. But why join INCA?
About INCA – The Recognised Trade Association For The UK EWI Industry
INCA, the Insulated Render and Cladding Association, was formed back in 1982 to represent a then relatively new external wall insulation (EWI) industry in the UK.
Back then, with EWI being such a new concept, much of the focus was on getting the system recognised, accepted and established within the UK construction industry.
As the EWI industry has expanded and evolved so too has the role of INCA. Today it is recognised by Government and key stakeholders as the national trade association for the external wall insulation industry in the UK and whilst it is still very much focussed on promoting the benefits of the systems and finishes, it’s now also about driving best practice, quality assurance and influencing government policy and decisions which impact the industry as a whole and hence benefit the membership.
The current INCA mission says it all: To represent members of the External Wall Insulation industry through technical excellence, effective collaboration, strong marketing, communication and member benefits.
INCA in 2024
To give you a feel for the work you will be supporting and the benefits INCA membership will bring you … a few examples of the work of INCA in 2024 to date:
- Published and circulated a press release: Core Messages for Retrofit
- Published the first in what will be an annual EWI Industry Report
- Published the new Best Practice Guide – EWI + Render Finishes
- Launched the new INCA Member Directory
- Written to the powers that be in the new Government with a call for engagement
Soon to come too is the second Best Practice Guide – EWI + Brick Slip Finishes, a new (unbranded) industrty video and we’re even having new exhibition stands being designed so that we can get out there and actively promote the industry, INCA and its membership.
Who INCA Represent And How We Work
As a body INCA represents all the major EWI system designers in the UK along with a nationwide network of specialist installers and all the key component suppliers to the external wall insulation (EWI) industry.
Collectively the INCA membership are delivering high quality new build and refurbishment projects in both the residential and non-residential sectors across the UK.
It is the first point of contact for Government and other key stakeholders and has active dialogue with all relevant governing departments and organisations including: DESNZ, CLC, BEEF, EEIG, BUILDUK, CITB, SWIGA, Trustmark amongst others.
The managing volunteer INCA board is made up of top industry professionals from across all sectors of the membership. The board are supported by a professional, industry experienced secretariat and a number of highly active member committees including:
- Technical: To maintain recognition of INCA as the technical experts for the industry and provide this support for the benefit of its members.
- Marketing: To support the INCA strategy and to promote the industry through campaigns and communication to members, influencers and specifiers.
- Training: To develop and deliver industry recognised and accredited EWI training and competency standards.
- Stakeholder Engagement: To proactively and effectively lobby, support and engage with Government departments, regulatory bodies and key market influencers.
We also have a Scottish and a Welsh committee to focus on the market challenges within these specific geographical areas.
Nationally, INCA fully supports the Government’s commitment to Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050 and EWI has a hugely important part to play in this drive and in 2024 we published our Core Messages For Retrofit along with the results of our EWI Industry Survey. IThe simple fact that domestic dwellings alone account for around 18% of carbon emissions demonstrates just how important EWI is and will continue to be in both the retrofit and new build markets.
INCA is therefore committed to continue to provide its members with the guidance and support they need and to help them set the benchmark for years to come by delivering highest quality installs of energy efficient, visually stunning and technically excellent projects.
