Those INCA members who are focussed on the social housing retrofit market in England will be interested to learn that the successful bids for wave 2.1 of the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund have, on 22nd March 2023, been announced by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. The Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) will upgrade a significant amount of the social housing stock currently below Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) C up to that standard. It will support the installation of energy performance measures in social homes in England, and help:

  • deliver warm, energy efficient homes
  • reduce carbon emissions
  • tackle fuel poverty
  • support green jobs
  • develop the retrofit sector
  • improve the comfort, health and well-being of social housing tenants

The Wave 2.1 competition aimed to allocate up to £800 million of funding to support the installation of energy performance measures in social homes in England.

The SHDF Wave 2.1 competition closed to applications on 18 November 2022 and on 22nd March 2023 it was announced that £778 million has been offered to 107 projects for Wave 2.1 of the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund. Match funding from Wave 2.1 applicants provides an additional £1.1 billion.
