INCA EWI Case Study: Shenington Airfield, Banbury, Oxfordshire

Shenington Airfield has been completed to a superb standard with excellent thermal efficiency and highly aesthetically pleasing finish. The project was completed using a BBA Certificated Johnstone’s Trade Stormshield Enhanced EPS External Wall Insulation system, with a 1.5mm Silicone Enhanced Finish.

The team working on this project had to deal with a number of discrepancies in the substrate, but overcome this challenge by working with a variety of Enhanced EPS insulation thicknesses, optimizing both the thermal performance and the end aesthetic result. The isolated and exposed location of the project also proved challenging, with the team having restricted opportunities to complete the work during favourable conditions, however this did not stop them completing the project to the highest of standards in an efficient timescale.

90mm EPS insulation was chosen for this project as this met the requirements set out by the client. The full external wall insulation system achieved the buildings thermal U Value requirement and careful consideration was taken to ensure there was no condensation risk with the design.

The finish chosen for Shenington Airfield was a Johnstone’s Stormshield High Performance 1.5mm Silicone Enhanced Render in colour Latitude. The whole EWI system is BBA approved with a 30 year lifetime, ensuring long last protection and keeping the newly refurbished building in excellent condition.

This striking domestic property still features the history of the airfield it once was previously, now with a useable space that has been protected and enhanced thanks to the hard work and commitment by the team at Weatherseal Facades and Johnstone’s Trade Stormshield External Wall Insulation Systems.
