Project Overview:
Nottinghamshire County Council invested £27 million to expand Rushcliffe Spencer Academy, creating 560 additional school places.
New Facilities:
The expansion included a new standalone teaching block with dining facilities and a sports hall, along with associated changing facilities.
Reconfiguration:
Existing buildings were demolished including the 1960’s-built leisure centre, and improvements were made to the external areas, including school access, parking, and grassroots pitch areas.
Community Impact:
The project aimed to meet the increased demand for school places due to considerable new housing developments in the area.
Construction Partner:
Morgan Sindall Construction was the main contractor for the project, appointed by Arc Partnership on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council and Church Lukas were employed as the project architects.
Completion:
The new facilities were completed and opened on time, contributing to the academy’s ability to provide a high-quality learning environment and cater to the growing student population.
More than 50 new jobs were created for local people in both teaching and support roles, to meet the needs of the growing school population.
Rendserve were appointed by Morgan Sindall to supply and install the Permarock Insulated Render system to this steel frame new build school. The system comprising 120mm Dual Density Mineral Fibre was adhesively & mechanically fixed to the substrate however as a Siniat Gypsum based board was chosen as a carrier it was essential that all the fixing pins hit the SFS studs therefore the setting out of the boarding was critical. The 1700m² of EWI system was finished with a white silicone 1.5mm top coat with contrasting feature panels between windows picked out in a stone colour.
The system achieved a U-Value of 0.15W/m²K.
Rendserve also designed, supplied & installed all the aluminium capping’s, cills and brick flashings.
The project was completed within program and on budget to the delight of all concerned.
