Bringing Efficiencies and Colour to a collection of flats in Skelmersdale.
Project involved the refurbishment of housing stock owned by West Lancashire Borough Council.
This particular project was a collection of 4 – 5 story blocks of flats named Evington.
The blocks of flats listed on this project are of a Wimpey No Fines, Non-Traditional Build Type and are listed by the council as “The Stub Blocks”.
Built back in the 60’s and a collection of over 30 blocks throughout this urban neighbourhood in Skelmersdale. The client has been gradually upgrading these blocks since 2019 and this includes the installation of a 110mm Rockwool Mineral Wool EWI System with a Johnstone’s Silicone Enhanced Render Finish in a carefully selected colour design.
The blocks have undertaken a full revamp with new roofs, water waste pipes, windows, doors and much more.
Challenges:
The blocks are in the heart of an urban neighbourhood not accessible fully by road. So it was a challenge to manage material movement throughout the site.
The blocks are of a non-traditional build type which requires additional consideration.
Carefully selected colour collection specified by the project design team.
PPG Architectural Coatings UK Ltd overcame the challenges of non-trad refurbishment to effectively deliver efficiencies and colour to a collection of flats in Skelmersdale.
