Refurbishment: Private Apartments
Winner: Vineyard Heights, London

Vineyard Heights, Mortlake High Street, Mortlake, Richmond-upon-Thames, London SW14 involved the transformation of a 1970’s building into new flats, affordable housing, and a business centre. The 42 apartments occupy an elegant glass towered building next to the River Thames.

Some 2,400 sq. metres of MR Swisstherm external wall insulation was specified by Edward Hill Partnership, due to it being lightweight, the attractive render finishes, and the speed at which it could be installed within the tight build schedule. The 80 mm EPS boards were over-coated with a low-maintenance weather protective Silkolitt render, that is fire-safe and has an enhanced acoustic performance.

The system designer was Alumasc Exterior Building Products Ltd; the installer, Specialist External Render Systems Ltd (London) – both INCA members; the builder was BIRSE Build Ltd; and the developer, Frendcastle.
